1. What are the extra charges, if any?

No, there are no hidden costs or extra charges in case of an online phone card.

2. What is the maintenance fee?

The maintenance fee goes a long way in maintaining the services for some phone cards. The customer service gives you a complete calling history including calling dates, from-to, call duration, and call charges. The respective phone card companies will deduct your maintenance fee from the card amount on a weekly or a bi-monthly basis in many cases. But it is the prerogative of the card company, and it will start cutting the maintenance fee once you make your first call. This process will continue till there are minutes available on you cards or until you card expires, whichever comes first.

3. What is ‘Rounding?’

Rounding is a concept used by phone card companies wherein they will round off the minutes of your last call.

For e.g. Say your call time is 15 minutes and 50 seconds:

Now if the phone company uses 1 minute rounding, then your call time will be rounded off to 16 minutes.
If the phone company uses 3 minute rounding, then your call time will be rounded off to 17 minutes.

Taxes

1. Are there any applicable taxes?

Taxes may be applicable on some phone cards. You can get information about the taxes going through the details of the card.

Checking balance/minutes

1. How do I check the balance/minutes remaining on my card?

The information will be provided to you as soon as you punch in your destination number. There are some cards that will only provide you with your balance information after you enter your PIN.
